Vermason Ionisers - Designed for Europe
Per IEC 61340 5-1 paragraph 5.2.9, “Ionisers shall enable either polarity of charge
on items to be brought down and maintained to less than 100 V.” IEC 61340-5-2
paragraph 5.2.9 states that “Ionisers should be considered as a method for charge
neutralisation in cases where grounding cannot be achieved. Air ionisation can
neutralise the static charge on insulated and isolated objects by producing separate
charges in the molecules of the gases of the surrounding air. When a static charge
is present on objects in the work environment, it will be neutralised by attracting
opposite polarity charges from the ionised air. Note that ionisation systems should
not be used as a primary means of charge control on conductors or people. As with
all ionisers, periodic maintenance will be needed to provide optimum performance.
To select the best ioniser for your application, IEC 61340-5-2 paragraph 5.2.9
advises, “The following list contains important points for the selection process:
charge neutralisation, discharge time, ion balance, product sensitivity, solution to
static problem, environmental considerations, airflow; physical dimensions.”
Ionisers do not replace or eliminate the need for wrist straps
or foot grounders. However, in areas where insulators must
be used, an ioniser can minimise problems resulting from static charges. In addition ionisation minimizes ElectroStatic Attraction
(ESA), reducing contamination of airborne particles adhering to parts.
Vermason’s top-of-the-line ionisers are made in America and manufactured at our Chino, CA, USA factory by our well-trained
production team. Customised circuitry is wave soldered and each ioniser is tested and calibrated to NIST traceable standards.
