Maximum power transmission, comfortable to
use and without loss.
To work safer, more efficiently and with less
strain on the body.
Certified safety – from our own safety testing procedure according to IEC stan-
dards.
Voltage testing: All Wiha VDE-tools, which have special markings, are individually tested at 10,000 V AC and
are approved for 1,000 V AC and 1,500 V DC.
Cold shock test: Cooling down to -25° C. The skinning material must retain its toughness, so that it doesn’t
break when subjected to shock and knocks.
Test of electrical skinning properties: 24 hours storage in water, then 3 minutes test at 10,000 V AC. There
must neither be flashover nor disruptive discharge.
Test of the adhesion of the skinning material coating: 168 hours storage at 70° C, then test of adhesion at
500 N.
Pressure tests: Test at 20 N pressure load, 70° C temperature and 5,000 V AC test voltage. No disruptive
discharge may occur.
Test of combustion behaviour: The tools are subjected to a flame for 10 seconds. The skinning material must
then extinguish and not continue to burn.
Safety note
The following equipment is required for all work on or around live components and should be appropriate for the
specific task
• insulating personal protective equipment • insulating safety mechanisms
• insulated tools
Before starting work, you must disconnect all active, live components of electrical machines and equipment and
ensure that they remain disconnected while you carry out the work.
This is achieved by complying with the five safety rules:
• disconnect • secure against reconnection
• ensure power is switched off • earth and short-circuit
• cover or block off adjacent live components
Certified by the VDE Testing and Certification Institute and individually tested according to the international standard IEC 60900.
